Sustainable Infrastructure Tools
Context & Challenge
The Sustainable Infrastructure Tools project aimed to provide UNOPS stakeholders with intuitive, accessible digital tools for infrastructure planning and decision-making. The project required creating interfaces that made complex technical information accessible to diverse users while maintaining high usability and accessibility standards.
The challenge was to design an intuitive, visually appealing user interface that optimizes user experience while ensuring accessibility compliance and effective collaboration with development teams to deliver a high-quality product.
User-Centered Design Approach
I collaborated closely with the UX researcher to conduct user testing sessions throughout the project, informing design decisions with real user insights. Through iterative refinement based on user feedback, I significantly improved user satisfaction and task efficiency, incorporating consistent design elements and principles to ensure the tool was accessible and engaging.
I effectively communicated UI adjustments with developers using HTML and CSS language, streamlining the implementation process and ensuring fidelity between design and development. This collaboration resulted in smoother transitions from design to development and ultimately improved the quality of the final product.
Proactive Problem-Solving
During the project, I observed that important messages such as task assignments often got lost in chat group conversations. By bringing this issue to the team's attention, I facilitated improved use of Jira tickets for more efficient communication, enhancing team collaboration and productivity. This process improvement had benefits beyond the immediate project.
When our project manager went on maternity leave, I took proactive measures to ensure project continuity. I coordinated the User Acceptance Testing Signoff at the end of the project, maintaining momentum and ensuring timely delivery despite the leadership transition. This demonstrated my ability to step up when needed and navigate project challenges autonomously.
Fostering Team Collaboration
I contributed to a positive and collaborative work environment by sharing knowledge and best practice tips with colleagues, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. I also organized and coordinated team activities, including the day trip to Malmö, which strengthened camaraderie and deeper connections as we spent time together outside the usual work context.
Key Deliverables

Impact & Measurable Outcomes
Accessibility scores increased by approximately 40%, achieving 100% accessibility as measured by Google Lighthouse. This significant improvement demonstrates a commitment to inclusivity and usability, backed by quantifiable metrics that validate the user-centered approach.
Product owners provided positive feedback, describing the interface as "sleek and modern" and noting that it felt "smooth" to interact with. This stakeholder validation confirmed that the design successfully balanced aesthetic appeal with functional requirements.
Beyond the immediate deliverables, the project established improved communication workflows and maintained delivery timelines despite a significant leadership transition, demonstrating the ability to ensure project continuity through proactive management and cross-functional collaboration.
